So, the time came when I finally decided to move the widescreen TV into the game room! This was definitely something I was looking forward to doing, but I had concerns about the room it would take up. So, I decided to change the room around! After much deliberation, sketches, and finger puppets, I decided to use the same corner for the TV, and turn the Ultimate Gaming Table 90 degrees to the side.
You can see in the background the 54″ Widescreen TV. It is my old projection flat screen TV, which is still a really good TV and much larger than the 36″ which used to be in there. I also added the surround sound system to the room and you can see the center channel speaker located on top of the PA speaker behind the TV. This moving of the table turned out to be a really good thing, while one side of the table lost a little room, the other side (which was previously against the back weall) gained a good amount of room. The DM now sits on the back wall where nobody needs to get behind him.
We located the sound system, which is a 7.1 surround sound system with built in 5 DVD changer right next to the TV, and we also brought the Wii system into the room as well, which my kids absolutely love. I must say that the acoustics in the room are AWESOME! Where before I had to crank up the system in the house, I don’t have to go anywhere near max volume in this room so that was a HUGE plus! I was watching the football game out here the other day and loved it! I was watching football, setting up terrain for my next session, I had the laptop working, and was drinking some Honey Mead! Heaven……
The Minis stayed on the same wall as did the terrain cabinet, but we moved over one of the old TV stands next to it to hold the card holders, token holders, play doh, and other items. You can see that the PA system stayed in the same location as well which works better now since both PA speakers are now coming from the DM’s direction.
Likewise you can see the view from the TV, which shows the storage room door in the background. The only real trick now is getting things like the lawnmower in and out of the room. It’s not too difficult but there is a little less wiggle room with the workout bench we put in there now.
One other benefit is that the wiring under the table is now able to be run under the rug from the wall outlet and it fits much better as well as looks much better. So the table is still wired up for laptops, lights and the PA system. At some point I want to wire up desk lamps and personal fans, but we’ll see how well the budget works out for that, but it’s definitely on the “to do” list.
Anyway, so far the feedback from players has been positive especially revolving around the extra room around the table which is a good thing. Well I wanted to keep this brief, and keep those of you who like to follow the changes to the room up to date. Thanks to all of you who chime in with comments and compliments it is always appreciated! Til next time, Good gaming!

I think the feng-shui maneuvers have improved the room. The layout works really well for the players and DM. Looking forward to further upgrades!:-)
